Happy Birthday To Jett and Avery

Again....a bit late!

We celebrated a little early, since we had my parents and uncle Daniel in town for the weekend. (notice Jett shirt....its a Go-dad special and I can't peel it off him)

Cupcakes for my birthday kids!

So I know this is a bit belated...but without a working camera, I have to borrow Shanda's.

I remember being a kid and LOVING anytime my mom brought stuff to my classroom. With so many kids, I'm sure it was a sacrifice, but what a treat it was and I was always proud to "show off my mom". I want my kids to have that, too. And with less than HALF the kids my mother had, I have no excuse. So for Jett and Avery's birthday, I made cupcakes for their classes. They weren't anything fancy...just your run of the mill cake mix. But I tried to spruce them up with some sprinkles. Jett's looked especially delightful to me!

And of course, Sis wanted pink sprinkles.

busy date on our Calendar!

Jett and Avery have their birthday tomorrow. Jett turns 6 and Avery turns 5! Every one asks if I did that on purpose...and I have to say no. No on in their right minds PLANS to have their babies a year a part. Aves was a bit of a surpirse! But now, I think I can say I wouldn't have it any other way. Here are justa few pics from the last 6 years.

Busted

My camera, that is. I came downstairs to find it on the floor...and the lense will NOT retract and it will not power on or off. Just says "lense error". When I looked at the memory card, it was a dead give away as to who the last person was to use it....Jo! So my question is this....What camera should I get?!?!? I just need a little one for everyday use. My broken camera is a Nikon coolpix. I have really liked it. But was wondering if anyone had one that they love....should I switch it up?!?!

B.O. for my BOY

So I thought it was a just a freak thing....didn't think much of it. But when he came home from school the other day and I immediately smelled it, I knew something had to done. My seven year old son has B.O. Its not the 50 year old man working outside all day, knock you off your feet offensive body odor....but its an odor, nonetheless. And needs to be addressed....its sort of like he's been hanging around the kitchen by the deep fryer of an old chinese restaurant...kind of like over cooked fried chinese food. Anyway. I told him to go get one of dad's deodorants and put it in his room and that he had to put it on every morning. He seemed perfectly happy about that. Me....I'm STRUGGLING! He's only 7! I'm not ready for this. I know it doesn't mean that tomorrow he will be shaving or that next week his voice is going to drop...and all the other FREAKY things that happen to boys when they hit puberty. But its the beginning.....and I thought I had a few more years to prepare. My hope is that this is the ONLY thing that will happen over the next 5 years....no hair, no cracking voice, no girl interest...none of that. I can take chinese food smell....that's all I can take!
(maybe I should start checking ALL my foods for injected hormones...isn't that linked to girls getting their . early?)

Last Minute Trip

At 5:00pm Friday, we decided to go to Washington DC. We haven't been to the temple in a while and its SVU's spring break, so I found a hotel (dog friendly with a pool) and we were on the road by 7:00. It took a little over three hours to get there and everyone did pretty well on the trip. I expected more sleeping...but the kids didn't cooperate.

WE DID SOME SWIMMING!
notice the NO DIVING painted in RED...Jett didn't think it really counted and the NAZI lifeguard on duty made him sit out!
"one of these things is not like the other" For as long as I can remember, I have had this REALLY big bump/bone sticking out of my ankle. I have NEVER broken any bones....but this just sticks out. It doesn't hurt...never has....and when I was younger, I felt really self conscious of it. I remember being in PE in elementary school and crossing my feet so no one could see it.
the car rides were as to be expected...there was a little bit of this.....

.....and a little bit of this......
This was the real beast....
(at least Aves is happy)
What's a road trip without the usual road trip fare (that makes you HATE all junk food by the end of it!)
we are like a clown car...how many little kids (and a dog) can you stuff into a van!?!?
The pilot and co-pilot....for those of you who don't know. I am a living navigation system. I can go somewhere once and 9 times out of 10, I'll get you back without needing directions...its a gift really. My grandfather noticed it in me when I was three, riding with them in their motor home...no joke. My mind is a trap! So the only reason we had a mapquest, was we were going a different route...which has now been filed in my mind for next time!
We are home now....fast and fun....and bytheway...its 80 here---warmer than FL right now!
